The Holba Brewery Museum in Hanušovice invites visitors to a walk back in time

You can never have enough tips for interesting trips. One of them is a visit to the brand new exhibition of the Holba Brewery Museum in Hanušovice in the picturesque Jeseníky Mountains. It is entirely up to you whether you choose to take a guided tour or whether you prefer to explore the exhibition on your own.

"In the brand new exhibition of our brewery museum, we will take a look not only at the very beginning of the brewery in Hanušovice, but also at the Wlach brewery in Šumperk and the brewery in Třemešek. In 1906, these two breweries were connected to the brewery in Hanušovice. The timeline takes us through the Hanušovice brewery until the end of the Second World War. Glasses, bottles, cooper's planes, mallets, kegs, barrels and brass taps have been preserved from this period and are on display here," says Blanka Strnadová, head of the Brewery Museum in Hanušovice.

In the second part of the exhibition, you will not only see beautiful beer glasses, bottles, crowns and beer signs, but also preserved personal letters of brewery employees and deputy stamps for employees. There are also photographs that capture both the history of the brewery and the atmosphere of recent events such as the Holbyáda, tree planting, meetings of Holbaks and Sheraks, etc. Maybe you will recognize yourself in some of them.

"We end the tour of the exhibition in the museum in our historical pub in the so-called photo corner, which is dominated by a reconstructed taproom counter from the period of the First Republic and where the pub owner and his regulars are waiting for you," adds B. Strnadová.

After visiting the museum, you can watch a film about the Holba brewery or go on an excursion to the brewery itself, where experienced guides will introduce you to beer production. In the visitor centre in front of the museum you can buy beer, glasses, T-shirts, etc.

Opening hours: Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. all year round

Admission: 40 CZK per person

Snippets from behind the scenes of the exposition:

- The exhibited items were obtained from collectors, but a large part of them were bought or borrowed from Mr. Bohuslav Hasona, who is a long-time employee of Holba Brewery.

- The costume of the innkeeper was made by Mrs. Natálie Rosáková, based on the model of the innkeeper from the fairy tale "Obušku z sack out".

- The museum acquired the period tap and fridge thanks to the brewer emeritus of the Litovel brewery - Mr. Miroslav Koutek, who is a great enthusiast of brewing.

- The photo wallpaper in the pub gives a glimpse into the historical pub at Šerák.

- Almost all historical photos of pubs are copies of postcards from the collector Ladislav Matějček from Bludov.

- The script, art design and realization of the exposition are the responsibility of Mgr. Michaela Kollerová from the Homeland History Museum in Šumperk, Blanka Strnadová and Ing. Lenka Kadlecová from the Holba brewery and the arranger Ivana Kuklová.
